Registered User. The old Tower Hobbies we loved was owned by Hobbico. Hobbico was the parent company for many brands of excellent RC equipment. Unfortunately, Hobbico was a poorly managed business that accumulated tremendous amounts of debt and ultimately failed. Horizon Hobby acquired parts of the business, including the Tower Hobbies IP.

As stated earlier, the Tower catalog used to be thick, full of products. Hobbico's business model has been to take the best of those products, and make their own version. The Hobbico product will then sell at a lower price, cornering the market. After awhile, the competing manufacturer is dropped, or in some instances, purchased by Hobbico.
RE: Tower Hobbies Uproar 60 build. I would consider a .90 two-stroke to be "normal" power for the Uproar 60, and 1.20 to be the first degree of over-powered--meaning slightly over-powered, but nothing outrageous. If by 3D you mean hovering, the Uproar can do it.

All in all, the new Tower Hobbies F4U Corsair is a nice, stand-off scale model that delivers wonderful flight characteristics, stunning looks, and pretty good durability all for a very competitive price. I bought mine for $124.99, and am using one of my trusty old Tactic radio systems.
