Jan-Harm Pol was born on September 4, 1942, in Wateren, Drenthe, in the Netherlands.Pol grew up on his family's dairy farm. [2] Pol met his wife, Diane Dalrymple, when he was a foreign exchange student at Mayville High School in 1961.
