It has 8 gigs of ddr5 ram 1tb ssd ryzen 5 7520U and it has not been terrible. I could benefit from a bit better of the gpu side and more ram but it is definitely doable and honestly it’s been perfectly fine for me. I can get it to 60-90 fps in rocket league 30-60 in beamng.drive and 40-75 in fortnite.
Amd's 7520u and 7020u are Intel n100 up to n300 competitors and are AMD's new entry level processors. They shouldn't be going up against i5 1235u laptops because they're on different categories. You need something around a Ryzen r5-7630, r7-7730u, or r7-7840u, r5-6600, or r7-6800for a more apples to apples comparison for example.
The biggest downside is that the GPU performance between 7520U and 5300U is vast when discussing budget "gaming." Even though the GPU in 7520U is based on the relatively new RDNA 2, it has only 2 cores, which is not enough to adequately run some old games like CSGO or Dota 2. Meanwhile, 5300U has no issues in that part. Weak GPU performance.

I am currently split between a refurbished Lenovo ThinkPad E14 Gen 3 and a refurbished HP 15-fc0105cl Laptop with similar specs (16GB RAM, 1TB SSD, etc.) and price range. The main difference between the two is that the ThinkPad has a Ryzen 7 5700u while the HP has a Ryzen 5 7520u.
The only reason Ryzen is better is the support for cheap ECC RAM. In other cases, the i5-1235u is just better for an average user since PCIe 4.0 provides much higher read/write speeds, higher RAM clocks, and more processor cache, resulting in better overall performance in everyday life.
Here is Notebookcheck's T14 G4 review with that same CPU, check the stats and numbers, also this quote: "The power consumption of the Lenovo ThinkPad T14 G4 is surprising to us - surprisingly low, as it is lower compared with the ThinkPad T14 G3 AMD. For the 2022 ThinkPad, the AMD version was the more efficient one."

AMD is now using a new naming convention for their mobile CPU’s to fool customers into buying laptops with older chips such as the one you’re considering. The 7 simply means it’s made for 2023. The second digit 5 means Ryzen 5. The third digit 2 (important!!) means it’s Zen 2 which is old as it was released back in 2019.
