Tynemouth (/ ˈ t aɪ n m aʊ θ /) is a coastal town in the metropolitan borough of North Tyneside, in Tyne and Wear, England. It is located on the north side of the mouth of the River Tyne, hence its name. [2] It is 8 mi (13 km) east-northeast of Newcastle upon Tyne.
The festival used to take place on both sides of the Tyne, but has made Tynemouth its home for many years now. It consists of spectacular outdoor music concerts at Tynemouth Priory and Castle, cultural performances and a pageant, with other activities at Tynemouth Station and the Playhouse Whitley Bay.
