Macau International Airport (IATA: MFM, ICAO: VMMC) is an international airport in the special administrative region of Macau, situated at the eastern end of Taipa island and neighbouring waters. It opened for commercial operations on 9 November 1995, during Portuguese administration of the region .
As part of the construction the old pedestrian bridge linking the airport and the opposing Golden Crown China Hotel was demolished in 2014, [2] while the station was completed in 2015. A new bridge was built in 2016 that connects the two places via the station.
Later on, the Cotai Water Jet launched the same service linking Hong Kong Airport and Macau but mostly embarked at Taipa Ferry Terminal. A new ferry terminal in Taipa, which is adjacent to the Macau International Airport , was opened in 2017 and some of the passenger traffic by sea will be diverted to the new facility.
The terminal provides high-speed passenger ferry services from Macau to Hong Kong, Zhuhai, Shenzhen and Dongguan.
