Prior to this, Kota Bharu was known as Kuala Kelantan. Before Kota Bharu assumed the role, the Kelantanese capital was divided into two which were Kota Kubang Labu and Kota Pengkalan Datu. [3] During the 19th century, Kelantan was a prosperous and populous state with a population of around 30,000 to 50,000 people including a thousand Chinese.
The Kota Bharu District is a district in northern Kelantan, Malaysia. As of 2020, the district's population is estimated to be 608,600. [ 3 ] It contains the state capital, Kota Bharu , as well as Pengkalan Chepa and Ketereh .
Tumpat is situated at the end of the East Coast Line railway line operated by Keretapi Tanah Melayu (Malayan Railways) which links Kelantan to the southern and western part of Peninsular Malaysia. This strategic location makes it a transportation hub of Kelantan. Tumpat town is approximately 15 km from the state capital, Kota Bharu.

Ketereh is a town and parliamentary constituency in Kelantan. It is located in the southern half of Kota Bharu District, roughly halfway between metropolitan Kota Bharu and Machang along Highway 8. The town was named after the local name for the cashew fruit, ketereh (gajus in standard Malay). [1]
Kubang Kerian is a federal constituency in Kota Bharu District, Kelantan, Malaysia, that has been represented in the Dewan Rakyat since 1995.. The federal constituency was created in the 1994 redistribution and is mandated to return a single member to the Dewan Rakyat under the first past the post voting system.
Kubang Kerian is about 10–15 minutes drive on Federal Route FT 8 from Kota Bharu, the capital city, depending on the traffic condition. It is also about 15–20 minutes from the airport in Pengkalan Chepa. However, if commuters prefer to take a taxi, RM30 will be charged if the taxi is taken from the airport to Kubang Kerian.
