The goodness of fit of a statistical model describes how well it fits a set of observations. Measures of goodness of fit typically summarize the discrepancy between observed values and the values expected under the model in question.
Fit is defined as an employee's "perceived compatibility or comfort level" with the organization and surrounding environment. [1] Important components of fit between an employee and the organization include an individual's career goals, personal values, as well as more immediate job-specific factors such as job knowledge, demands, skills, and abilities.
Although the polynomial function is a perfect fit, the linear function can be expected to generalize better: If the two functions were used to extrapolate beyond the fitted data, the linear function should make better predictions. Figure 3. The blue dashed line represents an underfitted model. A straight line can never fit a parabola.

An unpaired word is one that, according to the usual rules of the language, would appear to have a related word but does not. [1] Such words usually have a prefix or suffix that would imply that there is an antonym, with the prefix or suffix being absent or opposite.

The line of best fit for the bivariate dataset takes the form y = α + βx and is called the regression line. α and β correspond to the intercept and slope, respectively. [9] In an experiment, the variable manipulated by an experimenter is something that is proven to work, called an independent variable. [10]
Linear Template Fit (LTF) [7] combines a linear regression with (generalized) least squares in order to determine the best estimator. The Linear Template Fit addresses the frequent issue, when the residuals cannot be expressed analytically or are too time consuming to be evaluate repeatedly, as it is often the case in iterative minimization ...
