The Skirvin Hotel is a 225-room hotel located in downtown Oklahoma City and the city's oldest hotel. [1] Comprising three towers of 13 floors in an Art Deco architectural style, it is listed on the [[National Register of Historic Places]]. [2] In 1945, Skirvin Hotel and Skirvin Tower was sold to local hotelier Dan James.
101 Park Avenue is a building in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. It was formerly known as the Skirvin Tower, built in 1932 [ 2 ] as a luxury apartment-hotel annex to the Skirvin Hotel . [ 4 ]
William Balser Skirvin (November 10, 1860 – March 25, 1944) [1] was an American real estate developer and oil millionaire. [2] He is best known for his establishment of the Skirvin Hotel, an Oklahoma City landmark now listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Colcord built the Colcord Building, now known as the Colcord Hotel, which was the first skyscraper in Oklahoma City. It was also the first steel-reinforced concrete building in Oklahoma, because Colcord had seen the devastation to lesser buildings in San Francisco following the 1906 San Francisco earthquake and resulting fires.
The second hotel tower, the Pool Tower North, opened in August 2013, while the third hotel tower, the Pool Tower South, opened in early 2014. Both towers have a capacity of 500 rooms each and are adjacent to each other. The Inn at WinStar has 101 rooms, and is accessed from the casino and the RV park by a 24-hour shuttle service.
Originally called the Hilton Phillips Hotel after the oil baron who constructed it for $750,000 in 1928, the building’s future was immediately dimmed by the Great Depression. [ 1 ] [ 3 ] It was sold in 1930 to the Aldridge Hotel Co. , and so acquired the Aldridge name. [ 1 ]
