In 1973 the two schools combined to form one comprehensive co-educational establishment known as Knutsford County High School. [2] Over 2011–12, work was being performed on the lower site to remove asbestos that was built into the walls. Knutsford High School became Knutsford Academy on 1 April 2012 after gaining Academy status.

Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School is a co-educational secondary school and sixth form centre located in Holmes Chapel, Cheshire, England.It was founded in 1978 as a purpose-built 11–18 comprehensive and sixth form.
Previously a community school administered by Cheshire East Council, [7] in September 2013 Sir William Stanier School converted to academy status. [8] The school was then sponsored by the Congleton Multi-Academy Trust, however the trust merged with the Knutsford Multi-Academy Trust in September 2020 to form The Learning Alliance.
The school was formed in 1987 by the amalgamation of Appleton Hall County Grammar School and Stockton Heath County High School. Appleton Hall became the new school's Lower Site, while Stockton Heath (known locally as Broomfields after the attached leisure centre) became the Upper Site.
The British boys' school closed in 1897, with the opening of Fearnly Street School, renamed Victoria School in 1903. The St Andrew's national schools continued until 1922.
