Fort Hunter Liggett is a United States Army post in Jolon, California, in southern Monterey County, California. The fort, named in 1941 after General Hunter Liggett , is primarily used as a training facility, where activities such as field maneuvers and live fire exercises are performed.

4th Brigade (Fort Lewis) is now 191st Infantry Brigade. The 91st Division moved its headquarters to Fort Hunter Liggett on 1 May 2009, was reorganized and re-designated as the 91st Training Brigade (Operations) on 1 October 2009 and was then re-designated as the 91st Training Division (Operations) on 1 October 2010. Camp Roberts is roughly 25 miles (40 kilometers) southeast of Fort Hunter Liggett. Camp Roberts is host to annual training for California Army National Guard units and the British Army [citation needed]. As of 2014, Camp Roberts is undergoing major renovations, including demolition of World War II-era barracks.

The mission is surrounded by the Fort Hunter Liggett Military Reservation, which was acquired by the U.S. Army from the Hearst family during World War II to train troops. Additional land was acquired from the Army in 1950 to increase the mission area to over 85 acres (34 hectares). This fort is still actively training troops today.
