So on January 26, 1907, S.B. Phillips filed for record a plat of the new town, Normangee, located in the southwestern corner of the Robert Rogers land grant at the junction of the Old San Antonio Road and the two new railroads. When the H&TC was being built through this region, railroad officials placed a town every eight miles.

State Highway OSR (SH OSR) is a 61.918-mile (99.647 km) non-numbered state highway in southeastern Texas, United States, that forms a northern loop off of Texas State Highway 21 (SH 21). The route is the section of the Old San Antonio Road in east-central Texas that is maintained by the Texas Department of Transportation .
The Old San Antonio Road was a historic roadway located in the U.S. states of Texas and Louisiana.Parts of it were based on traditional Native American trails. Its Texas terminus was about 35 miles (56 km) southeast of Eagle Pass at the Rio Grande in Maverick County, and its northern terminus was at Natchitoches, Louisiana.
