    forum.millerwelds.com/forum/welding-discussions/24349-ar500-steel

AR500 is a quenched & tempered, abrasion-resistant grade of steel plate. This specialized plate is designed for severe impact and abrasion applications. I've used it to make silhouette targets for our shooting range. With a Millermatic 180, you could do 3/16" (.187) & possibly 1/4" (.250) with beveling.

12-13-2013, 09:44 AM. AR500 welding and bending. 500 is no prob to be bent. It will require a large press but the shop I used to be in did it all the time. As far as welding goes I don't think preheat would hurt but as previously posted check the charts. Syncrowave 250. Millermatic 210.

    forum.millerwelds.com/forum/welding-discussions/605156-ar500-and-7014-7018

AR500 and 7014/7018. 12-06-2019, 05:07 PM. Hello folks, I just welded some AR500 to some A36 steel using 7014 rod. Reading a little more (something I should’ve done beforehand) I found that 7018 should’ve been used. This is an A36 hinge welded to an ar500 door so it’s nothing with a lot of stress. If I were to go back over the 7014 passes ...

  6. welding 3/8" AR plate - Miller Welding Discussion Forums

    forum.millerwelds.com/forum/welding-discussions/30613-welding-3-8-ar-plate

Correct. Never forget that "Steel Shoots Back." The last commercial AR500 steel targets i purchased, included a warning to NOT shoot at the pistol targets within 25 yards, and NOT shoot the rifle targets inside of 100 yards. The usual issue is that a bullet can impact the target, turn inside out and come back up range at the shooter. Otherwise ...

  7. Welding AR 400 Plate - Miller Welding Discussion Forums

    forum.millerwelds.com/forum/welding-discussions/21578-welding-ar-400-plate

Tweet. #2. 03-11-2010, 04:20 PM. Norm right from Lincoln. AR400 is a quench and tempered steel and may be difficult to weld due its high strength and hardenability. The base steel around the weld rapidly heats and cools during welding, resulting in a heat affected zone (HAZ) with high hardness.

Stick: If you Google TriCon Tri-Braze, it will bring up the data sheets on the chemistry composition and recommended welding proceedures. This is a "die steel" used in a variety of mining, crusher plants, and where ever a Brinnel Hardness of 418-512 is needed (Rockwell C 40-45).

04-08-2011, 07:46 AM. Bullet trap. Having built and owned a public indoor shooting range I can tell all bout splatter! Bullet splatter goes in all directions so you will need side wall protection as well as above the traps and in front. The best best would be to recommend a commercial set up.

Able to with stand direct hits to the cutting edge with no loss of edge or deformation. Just gotta be 100% positive where you want the bolt holes and countersinks so they line up after welding, cutting and sharpening the edge. Good luck man, hope this helps. I got the steel from Birminham steel in Florence Tenn and Namasco in south eatern Georgia.

Tweet. #4. 07-08-2007, 10:25 PM. 409 stainless is the material of choice these days for OEM exhaust systems. ER409Cb is the recommended matching filler for GTAW, but ER309 or other 300 series wires can also be used. A place to talk about how-to, techniques, troubleshooting, welding processes, welders, plasma cutters or other metalworking tools.
