Posted November 8, 2023 (edited) When you buy an expansion, you're sent an email with the serial key to apply the expansion to an account. You can just forward that email to your friend, and they can use the code themselves on their own account. Note: You can't do this via the gem store. You'd have to buy it from the GW2 website or a retailer ...
Posted December 31, 2020. All mounts are tied to the Path of Fire expansion in different degrees. Even the WvW mount requires Path of Fire to be at least owned. Some also require Living World Season 4 on top of Path of Fire (2 to be precise) The only exceptions are festivals where races provide a rental mount to utilise in the area.
You can not no to both the expansion code and gem codes. Can I add gem codes to my Guild Wars 2 Steam account? No, gem card codes cannot be redeemed in-game (or on the site) for Guild Wars 2 accounts that were created on Steam. If this changes, the information will be updated here.

New accounts with an expansion unlocked will be granted permanent access to the basic raptor mount after they reach level 10 on a single character. Characters on Play for Free accounts (as well as Core accounts without an expansions) will get a 10-hour trial of the basic raptor mount when they reach level 10. These cannot be dyed.
The time remaining is shown on the Guild Vault display and the entire vault is "grayed out". This timer is reset if you leave and rejoin a guild. It is not affected by either Guild Rank or Vault permissions. Five Day. The trading post limits (ability to buy or sell certain items) is removed 5 days after purchasing an expansion. Seven Day
