Leaf shutter cameras usually support X and M, while focal plane shutter cameras usually support at least X and often FP and rarely M. On the Pentax KX film camera, X sync is a 1/60s and slower with electronic flash and 1/30s and slower with M-class bulbs*.

My experience has been a bit different. The images are, to my eye, very slightly sharper when using the leaf shutter at 1/500th versus the camera's focal-plane shutter. However, my leaf shutter seems to be timed slightly differently and test photos with the leaf versus FP shutters resulted in images with differing contrast profiles and color casts.

165mm f4 LS or 90mm LS (leaf shutter) lenses. All photographers will have their own preferred lens for portraiture. You will need to experiment with several to find one that suits you. What is best for others with a lot of experience may be totally unsuitable for you.

As a kid, I was allowed to use the super-practical AGFA Optima III (compur leaf shutter, 2.8/45mm lens) of my parents. I shot slide 50ASA film with it, with good results. Later on, I used a Pentax PC35AF-m point-and-shoot with a good 2.8/35 optic of my girlfriend, and soon got the photo-virus, and needed something that offered me more ...

The flash sync speed is slow at 1/30s, but there are Pentax 6x7 leaf shutter lenses with a sync speed of 1/500s to compensate. Summary: I really like the Pentax 67 camera and I'm glad I picked it over the other bodies/formats I was looking at. I mostly use the 67 around town or on short road trips where the size of the 6x7 system is not an issue.

The characteristics of lenses that do not fall within either of these sub-series are not necessarily homogeneous. DA lenses vary from being quite basic to being packed with the latest optical and mechanical technologies; hence, interpreting the various components of each lens name is particularly important.

Set the leaf shutter to "o", which opens the shutter for viewing. Set the focal plane shutter to the desired speed (which will be 60, 125, 250, or 500--the speeds provided by the leaf shutter). Adjust the ISO and aperture to center the metering display. Set the leaf shutter to the desired speed. Set the focal plane shutter in the camera to 1/8.

Macro is 1:2 and seems to be otpimized for "flat" objects, like paper or painting o leaf and so on... as a 50mm semi-macro is intended to be used (100mm macro are more suitable for nature close up like bug, flowers, exc.).

I also needed to get a Pentax 6x7 AF400T bracket and the Pentax 4P sync cord “C” to connect the flash. The 6x7 AF400T bracket attaches to the Pentax 6x7/67 like a regular wooden grip. The 4P plug attaches to the flash and the “X” sync connection to the camera body or a leaf shutter lens. (See attached picture.)
