The campus of IIT Guwahati is on the northern bank of Brahmaputra and abuts the North Guwahati town of Amingaon. The campus is on a 700 acres (2.8 km 2) plot of land around 20 km (12 mi) from the heart of the city. It has the Brahmaputra on one side and hills and vast open spaces on others. [1] IIT Guwahati is a fully residential campus.
According to data obtained through Right to Information (RTI) applications, approximately 38% of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) graduates from the class of 2024 have not secured job placements. [ 6 ] [ 7 ] This is the highest percentage in the past three years, with a steady increase from 19% in 2021 and 21% in 2022.

IIIT Raichur started its academic activity in August 2019 from the temporary campus of Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad, Telangana. [20] Then, in September 2021, IIIT Raichur shifted to the Transit in GEC Yermarus Camp, Raichur, Karnataka, where all academic activities are currently taking place.
Finally, the Union Finance Minister Mr. Arun Jaitley, during his budget speech in Parliament on 28 February 2015, had proposed to upgrade ISM Dhanbad into an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). On 25 May 2016, the Union Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Modi approved that a bill be introduced in Parliament for converting ISM Dhanbad into an IIT.

Techniche is the annual Techno-Management festival of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati.The festival was started in 1999 by Dhirendra Sinha, a Mechanical Engineering B Tech student along with a group of students within the IIT Guwahati campus.
