The Louisiana Democratic Party (French: Parti démocrate de Louisiane, Spanish: Partido Demócrata de Luisiana) is the affiliate of the Democratic Party in the state of Louisiana. Dominated by the conservative planter elite through much of the 19th century, the party was historically prominent in politics since before the American Civil War .
The 2017 Democracy Index registered, at the time, the worst year for global democracy since 2010–11. Asia was the region with the largest decline since 2016. Venezuela was downgraded from a hybrid regime to an authoritarian regime.
