Census-designated places (CDPs) are unincorporated communities lacking elected municipal officers and boundaries with legal status. According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 1.6 square miles (4.1 km 2), of which 0.0039 square miles (0.01 km 2), or 0.32%, is water. [5] The CDP is located along North Carolina Highway 90, 5 miles (8 km) east of Taylorsville, the county seat, and 15 miles (24 km) northwest of Statesville.
