Eleanor Mary Hughes (née Waymouth), (3 April 1882 – 1959) was a New Zealand landscape artist who mostly painted in watercolours. [1] She settled and worked in Britain and became an active member of the Newlyn School of artists and the nearby Lamorna artists colony.
He is widely held in public art museums in New Zealand, with Te Papa having 15 pieces and correspondence, [8] Auckland Art Gallery having 12 pieces [9] and Christchurch Art Gallery 3 pieces. [ 10 ] References
His first solo exhibition was at the Brooke Gifford Gallery in Christchurch in 1982. [11] In March 1987 he showed for the first time at the Peter McLeavey Gallery in Wellington, an exhibition followed by over 20 others.
