Polokwane (UK: / ˌ p ɒ l ə ˈ k w ɑː n i /, [2] meaning "Sanctuary" in Northern Sotho [3] [4] [5]), also known as Pietersburg, is the capital city of the Limpopo Province in South Africa. It is the country's largest urban centre north of Gauteng .
The municipal spatial pattern reflects that of the historic apartheid city model, characterised by segregated settlement. At the centre of the area is the Polokwane economic hub, which comprises the central business district, industrial area, and a range of social services and well-established formal urban areas servicing the more affluent residents of Polokwane.
The Peter Mokaba Stadium is a football and rugby union stadium in Polokwane (formerly Pietersburg), South Africa, that was used for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.It has a capacity to host 45,500 spectators but for the purposes of the 2010 FIFA World Cup the seating capacity was reduced to 41,733. [2]

Its northwestern origin is from the N11 approximately 60 kilometres north of Mokopane (just south of Lekhureng).It runs southeast through Tibane and Ga-Ngwetsana to reach Polokwane, where it passes through Seshego before bypassing Greenside, Westenburg and the Polokwane CBD to meet the R101 (Thabo Mbeki Street) and reach its end at an intersection with the R37 (Church Street) south of the CBD.
