The intent to build the temple was announced by the First Presidency on December 12, 2003, in a letter to local church leaders. The Beaux Arts design of the courthouse is "ambitious and elaborate" for architect C.A. Sundberg, who went on to design a number of other county courthouses in Idaho. [2][3]
