( i have an 7.4 liter though) -mike.

Mine too, took about 4 octopus hands to hold the cheater bar and the special clutch removal tool from slipping out the small grooves, and massive reefing on it to break the bond. After all that, decided to clean the clutch elements from the paint chips off the tool, which resulted in a further octopus operation getting them back in the spring.

You can get some DuPont Nason paint from your local Vermeer dealer and it is a single component paint that is packaged ready to spray right. (no reducer or hardener required). Or you can get it from an automotive supply store like O Reilly’s or NAPA and use DuPont code N3363 Vermeer Yellow.
Some MacNuts say the 850 has better performance; not my experience but every saw is different. An 850 in decent shape should have compression around #175. The tank/handle assembly could be replaced at a much less cost than the 800's A/V mounts, clutch cover and muffler. The 850 has a more desirable wide belly bar.

Oct 14, 2022. #1. anyone know any kind of paint code for a bandit chipper? Looking for the factory yellow. Bought a 250 XP a couple of years ago, it had been painted primer gray. Would like to get it back to the original color, and have it look decent. I can't find anyone selling the proper color in anything other than aerosol cans for touch-up ...
Filters are cheap no matter what brand of saw you run. Just replace it. I always brush my caps off when I need to refuel or fill bar oil. Keeps the tank clean and from chips getting in there. All you need is a stiff paint brush. But I still replace my fuel filters every year.
