Darrell Cecil "Shifty" Powers (13 March 1923 – 17 June 2009) [1] was a non-commissioned officer with Easy Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, in the 101st Airborne Division during World War II.
[4] [5] In 2021 he was the Oklahoma Sheriffs Association's Sheriff of the Year. In March 2022, he was appointed to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation Commission and in November 2022 he resigned as sheriff. After leaving the sheriff's office he worked for the Oklahoma Department of Corrections and later district attorney Jack Thorp. [3]

[5] According to the National Sheriffs' Association, an American sheriff's advocacy group, there were 3,081 sheriff's offices as of 2015. [6]
