Vernal is an unincorporated community in Greene County, Mississippi, United States. [1] Vernal was one of the earliest settled areas of Greene County and was named for an early settler from Scotland. It was once home to Vernal Male and Female Academy, the Vernal School, and the Vernal Consolidated Rural School. [2]
Vernal's public schools include Ashley Valley Education Center, Uintah High, Uintah Middle School, Vernal Middle, Ashley Elementary, Discovery Elementary, and branches of Utah State University and Uintah Basin Technical College. In 2015, the Terra Academy opened as a K–12 charter school.
