Located southwest of the historic centre of Dubai, Emirates Towers station lies between Bur Dubai and many of the city's larger new developments. To the east are the Emirates Towers, after which the station is named, and the Museum of the Future, to which it is connected via a walkway. Also nearby are numerous hotels. [3]
As part of the Expo 2020 development in Dubai, an extension of the Red Line named Route 2020 [7] announced in December 2015 and originally due to be completed mid-2019. The extension project created a new section of the line from Jabal Ali to the Expo 2020 site, near Al Maktoum International Airport.
Jabal Ali (Arabic: جبل علي; formerly Nakheel Harbour & Tower) is a rapid transit station on the Red Line of the Dubai Metro in Dubai, UAE. The station is one of three stations on the system with a dedicated park and ride lot, the others being Centrepoint and etisalat by e&. [1] Until May 2020, the station was named Nakheel Harbour & Tower.
The two towers, which rise to 354.6 m (1,163 ft) tall to the tip and 241.4 m (792 ft) high of occupied space, respectively, stand as the 51st [5] tallest buildings in the world and 11th tallest in Dubai. [6] The Emirates Towers complex is located on the Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and is a symbol of the city of Dubai.
The station continues to the network's depot. The station is close to the Red Line's Centrepoint station and Rashidiya Depot. The green line goes to the Creek form there it transfers to the Red line at Union or Burjuman. It has a parking facility which can accommodate over 2,300 vehicles and a popular park-and-ride location for commuters. [6]
Dubai Metro has a total length of 89.6 kilometres (56 mi) and 55 stations, 35 on the Red Line and 15 on the Green Line. [5] From 2009 to 2016, Dubai Metro was the world's longest driverless metro network with a route length of 75 kilometres (47 mi), as recognized by Guinness World Records in 2012. [6]
