This is the first season for the university under its then-current identity. On November 7, 2024, after the Lions had played their first two games of the 2024–25 season, [2] the Texas A&M University System Board of Regents approved the proposed change of the university's name to East Texas A&M University. The name change took effect immediately.
Rudin announced his support for the name change to East Texas A&M University and announced he would be taking the motion to rename the university to the A&M System Board of Regents during their November meeting. The Field House or University Field House is a 3,055-seat multi-purpose arena on the campus of East Texas A&M University in Commerce, Texas.
