The Mann Center for the Performing Arts' Education & Community Engagement program is the region's largest free education program, serving over 50,000 young people annually. Mann Auditorium, 1964. Heichal HaTarbut, originally named the Fredric R. Mann Auditorium, opened in October 1957 at Habima Square. [2] The building was designed by Dov Karmi, Ze'ev Rechter and Yaakov Rechter. [3] Leonard Bernstein conducted the inaugural concert, with the Israel Philharmonic and pianist Arthur Rubinstein as a soloist.
The center is a popular attraction, keeping its doors open to the public seven days a week. It hosts thousands of visitors annually and offers free tours of the facility regularly. Marian Anderson Hall (formerly Verizon Hall) , with 2,500 seats, is the main performance auditorium.
In the fall and winter months, the Freedom Mortgage Pavilion converts to a fully enclosed, climate-controlled, flexible-capacity theater for up to 7,000 people offering a variety of concerts, Broadway theatrical productions, and family entertainment. Depending on the event tickets are available in seat form or standing room.
