Aleksander Thomas Manfredi, better known by his stage name Exile, [1] is an American record producer, disc jockey and occasional rapper. Aside from his solo career, he is a member of the musical groups Emanon alongside Aloe Blacc , as well as Blu & Exile .

He was personally introduced to Exile through Emanon's other member, Aloe Blacc. [1] In 2007, Blu & Exile released their debut album, Below the Heavens, which was described by XXL as "one of 2007's most celebrated hip-hop releases". [2] In 2012, the duo released their second album, Give Me My Flowers While I Can Still Smell Them. [3]
By the time the album was done, Blu had completed two other full-length albums, one with Detroit hip-hop rapper/producer Ta'Raach and with Sound In Color/Operation Unknown producer and CEO, Mainframe. In 2006, Blu pressed up the Lifted EP and mixtape premiering various productions with Exile and songs with J Dilla and KRS-One.
In a review for PopMatters, critic reviewer Mike Madden wrote: "This album definitely revolves around Exile's Madlib-indebted style, but it seems as though he culled a bunch of beats that rappers didn't want from him and tried to make something cohesive out of them." He went to describe the release as "ultimately underwhelming."
