Mountain Creek is a ski resort in Vernon Township, Sussex County, New Jersey, United States. It is located on New Jersey Route 94 in the New York Metropolitan Area, 47 miles (76 km) from the George Washington Bridge. Mountain Creek contains 167 acres (68 ha) of land for skiing area, night skiing, snowboarding, and snowmaking activities.
Entirely within Routt are the Mount Zirkel and the Sarvis Creek Wildernesses. Lying mostly within neighboring forests but extending into Routt are the Flat Tops ( White River NF 83.5%), Neota ( Roosevelt NF 97.3%), Never Summer ( Arapaho NF 68.4%), Platte River (Medicine Bow NF 96.8%), and Rawah (Roosevelt NF 98.0%) Wildernesses.
Mountain Creek starts in the South Mountain Range and Michaux State Forest and flows through them and Pine Grove Furnace State Park. After leaving the state park, the stream runs through Toland and the Holly Gap Marsh Preserve. It flows through the borough of Mount Holly Springs and joins with Yellow Breeches Creek near the borough. [3]
Mountain Creek was the site of the Alabama Confederate Soldiers Home from 1902 to 1939, now the Confederate Memorial Park. The 102-acre (0.41 km 2 ) park has a museum, research facility, historic structures, ruins and two cemeteries with the graves of over 300 Confederate soldiers.
