Glasgow Airport, also known as Glasgow International Airport (IATA: GLA [4], ICAO: EGPF) formerly Abbotsinch Airport, is an international airport in Scotland. It is located in Paisley , Renfrewshire , 8.6 nautical miles (15.9 km; 9.9 mi) west [ 1 ] of Glasgow city centre .
A landing ground was first established at Turnhouse in 1915. The airfield was greatly expanded in the 1930s, with three concrete runways being laid in 1939/40. [3] RAF Turnhouse closed in 1996 and its remaining facilities were acquired by Edinburgh Airport.
In the late 1980s Loganair was the fastest-growing scheduled operator at Manchester Airport, and, in terms of number of flights, was the airport's second-busiest carrier.
