Indebted to Luffy for rescuing her, Nico Robin joins the Straw Hat Pirates. An old ship falls from the sky. The Straw Hats rush to Galley La as three CP9 agents commence their raid. Robin and the mysterious man that shot Iceberg enter Iceberg's room due to the latter's Devil Fruit powers. The masked-man informs him that CP9 framed the pirates and seeks blueprints he kept hidden and would've passed down to Paulie. Luffy separates from his group.
Luffy fights Crocodile with more success this time by using water, but is defeated after Crocodile dries up the ground. Meanwhile, the other Straw Hats hurry to locate the bomb before it goes off. Nico Robin forces the king to take her to the tomb where the Poneglyph with Pluton's location is hidden, defeating Tashigi when she tries to stop her.

The Straw Hats later meet Foxy the Silver Fox and his crew, who challenges them to the Davy Back Fight, a competition involving battles between Foxy's crew and Luffy's crew. Soon after, they encounter Admiral Aokiji, a Marine admiral who is determined to capture Nico Robin, but spares the crew after defeating Luffy.
