Edward L. Doheny was born in 1856 in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, [1] to Patrick "Pat" and Eleanor Elizabeth "Ellen" (née Quigley) Doheny. The family was Irish Catholic. His father was born in Ireland, and fled County Tipperary in the wake of the Great Famine.
Pool Corporation was founded in 1980 as South Central Pool Supply by Frank J. St. Romain. [2] In 1993, the company was purchased by Code Hennessey's & Simmons. In 1995, the company was renamed SCP Pool Corporation and became a public company via an initial public offering. The company was renamed Pool Corporation on May 16, 2006. [3]
After the shooting of his son, the Irish American oil tycoon Edward L. Doheny donated $1.1 million in 1932 to USC to build the Doheny Library. While the exterior of the library was designed by architect Ralph Adams Cram, the interiors and the final working drawings for the building were designed by Pasadena-based architect, Samuel Lunden. In 1972, form liner manufacturers created a fluted form liner with graphic inlays of shrimp boats, a famous crawfish wrapped around an oil bearing, tug boats and race boats. This sound/retaining wall, located in Morgan City, LA , was to be the first use ever of graphic inlays in form liner.
