Alone Australia is an Australian survival reality television competition series on SBS which premiered on 29 March 2023. [1] It follows the self-documented daily struggles of 10 individuals as they survive alone in the wilderness for as long as possible using a limited amount of survival equipment.
The program received $200,000 funding from the Government of Tasmania in September 2018 [5] with the series produced for $1.4 million overall. [3] The series was commissioned for the Seven Network's male-skewing multichannel 7mate [6] and is co-produced by Fredbird Entertainment and Tasmanian-based Winning Post Productions, and distributed internationally by TCB Media Rights.
The Tasmanian Wilderness is an extensive, wet, temperate, wilderness area covering much of southern and western Tasmania. It is approximately 200 km (120 mi) north to south and averages 70 km (43 mi) east to west, or 1.38 million ha (3.4 million acres) before expansions in 2013.
Kutikina Cave (or Kuti Kina or Fraser Cave) is a rock shelter located on the Franklin River in the South West Wilderness, a World Heritage Area in the Australian state of Tasmania.
