Larry Cunningham (13 February 1938 – 28 September 2012) [1] was an Irish country music singer, who was one of the leading figures of the showband scene in the 1960s and 1970s. [2] Cunningham accomplished a series of "firsts" during his career.
The band was formed by the former Detroit Emeralds' singer James Mitchell, with his brother Paul Mitchell, Larry Cunningham, Charles Clark, and the unrelated Ralph Mitchell. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] Most of the Floaters were from Northeast Detroit, bordering Hamtramck on Detroit's Eastside.
The singer Larry Cunningham was actually from nearby County Longford, not from Leitrim; his mother taught him the song. [ 4 ] "Lovely Leitrim" was released by Cunningham in September 1965, and was number one on the Irish Singles Chart for two weeks in January 1966.

From 1994 to 2002, he taught at the Cardozo School of Law, where he directed The Samuel and Ronnie Heyman Center on Corporate Governance, and wrote several books on value investing.
