Passiflora racemosa, the red passion flower, is a species of flowering plant in the family Passifloraceae, native to Brazil. It is an evergreen climber growing to 5 m (16 ft), with simple or 3-lobed leaves to 10 cm (4 in) long, and vivid red flowers borne in summer. The flowers are 12 cm (5 in) in diameter, with purple and white coronas.
It flowers in late spring through late summer; large specimens can produce several crops of flowers in one season. This is a widely cultivated Epiphyllum species. It is known to have medicinal properties in many Asian cultures, including India, Vietnam, and Malaysia.
Alpinia purpurata, commonly referred to as red ginger, ostrich plume and pink cone ginger, is a ginger native to Maluku and the southwest Pacific islands.In typical ginger fashion, A. purpurata is a rhizomatous plant, spreading underground in a horizontal growth habit, sending feeder roots downwards into the substrate and sprouting leafy vertical stems from nodes located along the rhizome.
