ACHA Men's Division 2 is currently the largest division in the ACHA, it includes approximately 200 teams in 12 conferences and Independents. These teams are divided into four Regions (Central, Northeast, Southeast and West). A total of 16 teams qualify for the National Tournament, four from each region.
At the 2024 ACHA Division II National Tournament, Indiana & Miami became the first two teams from the conference to advance to the National Championship as Indiana won the game in Overtime. 2017: Ohio (SE #4) finished 0–3 in Pool A; lost to William Paterson (NE #1) 6–3, Grand Valley State (Central #2) 3–0 & UNLV (West #3) 3–1.

The Matadors moved up to Division 2 for the 2012-13 season after making the Division 3 National Tournament in 2010 and 2012. Long Beach State also previously played in the PCHA. In the late 1990s The Beach moved up to Division 2. Loyola Marymount originally had a team from 1930 to 1942. [9] The Lions re-established their program in 2006.
Its current iteration is solely a result of the NCAA policy barring Division II schools from participating in Division III tournament which would have prevented those conferences from receiving an automatic bid into the National Tournament. Because only six schools play at the D-II level, no NCAA Tournament is currently being held (as of 2023).
The Mountain West Collegiate Hockey League (MWCHL) is a collegiate hockey conference within Division 2 of the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA). It is made up of ten universities throughout the Western United States. Four members are from the state of Utah, four from Montana and two from Idaho.
