The bank traces its history to 1836, when the Tompkins County Bank was chartered by a special act of the New York State Assembly. After the National Bank Act of 1864, it was reorganized into the Tompkins County National Bank. In 1891, the Ithaca Trust Company was formed; in 1935, the two banks merged into the Tompkins County Trust Company. [3]

Tompkins County is a county located in the U.S. state of New York.As of the 2020 census, the population was 105,740. [1] The county seat is Ithaca. [2] The name is in honor of Daniel D. Tompkins, who served as Governor of New York and Vice President of the United States.
Tompkins County recently announced the adoption of its first Strategic Operations Plan, which will guide nearly 30 county departments to operate more effectively in the coming years.
