    www.marlinforum.com/threads/marlins-unique-410-lever-action-shotgun.3375

In 1929, Marlin took their standard Model 1883 lever action rifle and reworked it as a shotgun. To do this they had to lengthen the loading port, modify the tubular magazine, and replace the .45 caliber rifled barrel with a 26-inch smoothbore cylinder choked shotgun tube.

  4. The Marlin 99-M1 Carbine - Marlin Forums

    www.marlinforum.com/threads/the-marlin-99-m1-carbine.3347

Since the Marlin was a .22LR and not a .30 carbine, the action and barrel were lighter, at 4.75-pounds. Forgoing the detachable box magazine of the M1, Marlin kept the under barrel tube mag but shortened it to hold just 10-rounds to keep the profile of the gun similar. A stock redesign and military style ramp sights completed the transformation.

  6. The Classic Single Shot Marlin 22

    www.marlinforum.com/threads/the-classic-single-shot-marlin-22.3354

Introduced in 1979 as the Marlin/Glenfield Model 15, this gun was a redesigned Model 100. In the concept of 'if it aint broke, don't fix it,' Marlin simply made a good gun better. A ramp front sight replaced the old bead sight. The stock, still walnut, was made in a Monte Carlo style with a checkered pistol grip (plain on the Glenfield).

Hi - As far as the safety, I actually don't own a Marlin lever with a crossbolt safety, sounds like yours won't engage. Does it go to half cock? The trigger should not be able to be pulled when at half cock. Also, in general don't post the serial number of your guns, most people just the first 2 digits and then six x's Marlin codes prior to 1973:

  10. Marlin Manufacture Date Codes

    www.marlinforum.com/threads/marlin-manufacture-date-codes.1022

Codes don't work. I got an email from a guy who said the MR is Marlin Remington/and the 2 most likely signifies the year and the 2nd number most likely signifies the month...or vice versa...of manufacture. I got the rifle in Sept. 2012 so the 2 probably means 2012. The whole sequence may show what number in the lot mine was built.

  11. Marlin's Deer Mauser: The Model 455

    www.marlinforum.com/threads/marlins-deer-mauser-the-model-455.3372

Marlin took advantage of this and designed the Model 455 around these actions. Design The rifle was built on an FN Supreme Mauser action which was the final improvement of the old K98 style rifle that was made and used by militaries around the world for more than fifty years.
