A post-war US study of the tank battles in South Asia concluded that the Patton's armour could be penetrated by the 20-pounder tank gun (84 mm) of the Centurion (later replaced by the even more successful L7 105 mm gun on the Mk. 7 version which India also possessed) as well as the 75 mm tank gun of the AMX-13 light tank.
With tanks unable to leave the beaches, the raid stalled and failed. Following failure of the raid, a Royal Canadian Engineer officer, Lt J.J. Denovan who was attached to the Department of Tank Design, proposed a vehicle to protect engineers during assault operations. Development commenced based on the experiences at Dieppe.
As with the Centurion, Contentious was later up-gunned; first tested with the 84 mm 20 pounder, the Bovington example later gained a L7 105 mm gun, derived from the 20 pounder. [ 5 ] [ 9 ] The replacement was relatively easy, as the 105 mm is largely a rebarrelled version of the 84 mm and has a similar breech.
The Nagmachon evolved from the NagmaSho't armoured personnel carrier (APC), which in turn was based on Centurion tank Sho't hulls from the 1970s and 1980s. The vehicle carries thick belly armour designed to withstand mine -blasts and mountings on the front hull for various engineering devices such as mine plows , mine rollers and bulldozer blades .
Sho't Meteors are made up of Mark 3, Mark 5, and Mark 8 Centurion tanks with the original Rolls-Royce Meteor engine upgunned to the 105mm Royal Ordnance L7 cannon.These tanks received minor additional upgrades and modifications by the Israel Defense Forces in earlier improvement programs for the tank. Dawsar (Arabic: دوسر) or MAP II (Modular Armored Platform) [1] is a heavily armored personnel carrier developed by King Abdullah Design and Development Bureau (now Jordan Design and Development Bureau). It is based on Tariq main battle tank, an upgraded version of Centurion. The Jordanian Army received four of these vehicles in 2014. [2]

Simpson's rules are used to calculate the volume of lifeboats, [6] and by surveyors to calculate the volume of sludge in a ship's oil tanks. For instance, in the latter, Simpson's 3rd rule is used to find the volume between two co-ordinates. To calculate the entire area / volume, Simpson's first rule is used. [7]
