Hampton is located in north-central Hampton County at (32.867514, -81.111554 It is bordered to the southeast by the town of Varnville. U.S. Route 278 passes through the center of Hampton as Elm Street; the highway leads northwest 10 miles (16 km) to Fairfax and southeast through Varnville 30 miles (48 km) to Ridgeland.

Hampton County is a rural county located in the U.S. state of South Carolina.As of the 2020 census, the population was 18,561. [1] Its county seat is Hampton. [2] It was named for Confederate Civil War general Wade Hampton, who in the late 1870s, with the ending of Reconstruction, was elected as governor of South Carolina.
James T. Ryan was the first executive director and served the group in that capacity for 54 years. Soon after NCCWA was established, manufacturers outside North Carolina began to join the organization. In 1911 the name was changed to the Southern Furniture Manufacturers Association to more accurately reflect the growing membership.
