James E. Leonard is a former fire Chief of Department who was relieved of duty for alleged misconduct from the New York City Fire Department (FDNY). [1] Leonard was the 35th Chief of department in the 150-year history of the New York City Fire Department. [2] The Fire Chief is the most senior uniformed member of the fire department.
The FDNY's motto is "New York's Bravest" for fire, and "New York's Best" for EMS. The FDNY serves more than 8.5 million residents within a 302-square-mile (780 km 2) area.
