Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) is an XML -based vector image format for defining two-dimensional graphics, having support for interactivity and animation. The SVG Working Group is a working group created by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) to address the need for an alternative to the PostScript document format. The PostScript format was unable to create scalable fonts and objects without creating files which were inordinately larger than a file which used unscalable fonts and objects.
