The City of Buena Vista is governed by a six-member City Council and a mayor, all elected by city residents. The City Manager oversees the daily operations and police protection is provided by 14 officers with support from 14 additional state police assigned to the Rockbridge area.
Long Range Planning. The most important long-range plan is the City’s Comprehensive Plan. It thoroughly analyzes the state of the City and expresses the vision for the City, and it drives zoning, capital projects, and future development. The Comprehensive Plan, Viewpoints, was adopted in 2012.
