From 23 December 2011, Certified Emission Reduction (CERs) units from HFC-23 and Nitrous oxide (N 2 O) industrial gas destruction projects were banned from use in the NZ ETS, unless they had been purchased under future delivery contracts entered into prior to 23 December 2011.
