The village's amusement park, Ramona Park, opened in 1897, a creation of the Grand Rapids Street Railway Company in order to increase use of their services. [7] The park included amusement rides, games, concession stands, and two large pavilions where activities from theater to roller skating were hosted.
Wood became a philanthropist for northern New York state through his Charles R. Wood Foundation, donating money to libraries, hospitals and providing seed money for a theater in downtown Glens Falls, New York, which was later named for him, as well as Charles R. Wood Park, a nature park and restored wetland area on the site of Gaslight Village.

Gaslight Village was a Vaudeville themed amusement park in Lake George, New York. The park was located along New York State Route 9N, U.S. Route 9 and Warren County Route 69 (West Brook Road) in the village. It opened in 1959, designed by Arto Monaco and built by amusement park builder Charles Wood.
