Mr. Lonely: His Greatest Songs Today is a collection of previously recorded songs by Bobby Vinton for Curb Records.The first five tracks might be misleading to people of the baby boomer generation, as they are not the singles that Vinton had during the 1960s and the year of 1974 but re-recordings that Vinton made for Curb.
Bobby Vinton received a Platinum Album Award on his television show in 1977 signifying sales of one million copies. The album was sold in stores and promoted with an aggressive television advertising campaign. The album features a graphic reading "As Seen On TV" on its cover along with photos of Bobby performing on his television show.
Two singles came from this album: "Coming Home Soldier" (co-written by Vinton); the song, a sequel of sorts to Vinton's earlier hit "Mr. Lonely", reached #11 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The follow-up, "For He's A Jolly Good Fellow", originally written and recorded by Ray Stevens , charted at #66.
The contest ran from August 15 to October 5; the grand prize winner was Pamela Hammer of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania [2] (coincidentally, her suburban Pittsburgh hometown of Mt.
