The 15th (Isle of Man) Light Anti-Aircraft Brigade, Royal Artillery, was formed at Douglas, IoM, on 1 July 1938. It was organised with two batteries that were numbered 41 and 42 in December, and on 1 January 1939 it was redesignated as a regiment rather than a brigade, in line with the RA's modernisation of its terminology.

During World War II the Isle of Man was used as the primary site for the internment of civilian enemy aliens, both male and female. The camps were predominantly in commandeered hotels and boarding houses in seaside towns on the island. Around the camps for males, barbed wire fences were erected and military guard was brought over from England.
It was one of the smallest of the ten internment camps on the island during World War II, with only 307 residents. Of these, 42 were invalids. [2] The Sefton Camp held prisoners from October 1940 until March 1941. [3] The camp had a newspaper, the Sefton Review, published fortnightly from November 1940 to 3 February 1941.
