The Ramcharger was mostly produced as a two-door, 4×4 vehicle, although a two-wheel-drive version was available. As a full-size SUV, it competed with the Chevrolet K5 Blazer and the 1978–1996 Ford Bronco. The Ramcharger was discontinued at the end of the 1993 model year in North America. In Mexico, however, production continued until 1996.
The D/W series received a facelift for 1977, which included an updated grille with rectangular turn signal lights and the "DODGE" name embossed at the top. The body moldings were also refreshed, while the Adventurer Sport trim was discontinued. The interior saw updates with a two-tone instrument panel and new seat and door trim.
The Dodge M-series chassis were a line of heavy-duty frames used under various Class A motorhomes from 1968 to 1979. M-series chassis use a Dana 60 or 70 or Spicer M70 solid rear axles with leaf springs.
The 5.9 L came factory-installed in 1998–2001 Dodge Dakota R/T pickups and 2000–2003 Dodge Durango R/T SUVs. It was also installed in the Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 5.9, only available in 1998. The 5.9 L Magnum was available until the 2003 model year, when it was replaced with the 5.7 L Hemi V8 engine .
