Tomie (富江) is a Japanese horror film series based on Junji Ito's manga of the same name.The series consists of nine installments to date. The series focuses on the titular Tomie Kawakami, a beautiful young girl identified by a mole under her left eye, who drives her stricken admirers to madness, often resulting in her own death.
Tomie has been adapted into a series of Japanese horror films released between 1999 and 2011. There are to date nine films in the series. The 2018 anime Junji Ito Collection was presented with two episodes where Tomie was the main character, and the 2023 Junji Ito Maniac had another episode with Tomie.
A second series titled Atarashī Tomie (新しい富江, New Tomie) was serialized in Nemuki and was collected into a single bound volume titled Tomie Again: Tomie Part 3 (富江Again―富江 Part3) and released in March 2001. [6] Tomie was re-released again as part of The Junji Ito Museum of Horror (伊藤潤二恐怖博物館) series.

Tomie: Beginning (富江 BEGINNING) is a 2005 Japanese horror film directed by Ataru Oikawa and the fifth installment of the Tomie film series, serving as a direct prequel to the 1998 film Tomie, with Kenji Mizuhashi reprising his role as Takeshi Yamamoto.
The series was originally announced on June 8, 2022; the series was announced to adapt stories from Junji Ito's The Hanging Balloons, Sōichi, and Tomie manga. The series premiered on January 5, 2018, and ran for 12 episodes, accompanied by the release of two OVAs. The series was co-produced and streamed worldwide by Crunchyroll outside of Asia in eight languages on the same day.
