The Wallowa Mountains (/ w ə ˈ l aʊ w ə /) are a mountain range located in the Columbia Plateau of northeastern Oregon in the United States.The range runs approximately 40 miles (64 km) northwest to southeast in southwestern Wallowa County and eastern Union County between the Blue Mountains to the west and the Snake River to the east.
The Wallowa Mountains Visitor Center and district office for the national forest, a 20,500-square-foot (1,900 m 2) log building in Enterprise, burned to the ground on July 11, 2010. [ 22 ] The forest works with the Nez Perce Tribe of Idaho and the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation on cultural and natural resources issues.
The town of Wallowa Lake is situated next to the park.
