Jarir was established in Riyadh in 1974 as a small bookshop on Jarir Street, from where it derives its name. It dealt in used books and art sold by expats living in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In the 1980s, Jarir opened a second branch in Riyadh followed by one in the 1990s.

On 26 October 2015, a suicide bomber murdered 2 people and wounded 26 in a Shia Ismaili mosque in the southern city of Najran. The bomber, a Saudi national who recently returned from fighting for IS in Syria, was blocked from entering the center of the mosque by a 95-year-old man, which limited the terrorist's death toll. Najran (Arabic: نجران Najrān), is a city in southwestern Saudi Arabia. It is the capital of Najran Province. Designated as a new town, Najran is one of the fastest-growing cities in the kingdom. Its population grew from 47,500 in 1974 to 90,983 in 1992, 246,880 in 2004, and 381,431 in 2021.
Plans to build a sports complex in Najran were announced on 24 January 2008. [2] The sports complex would be known as Najran Sports City would include a 10,000 seater football stadium, an olympic-size swimming pool, a sports hall to host basketball, volleyball and handball matches, a gymnasium and an 80-room hostel among others amenities.

Sharurah (Arabic: شرورة) is a governorate in Najran Province, southern Saudi Arabia, approximately 200 miles east of the town of Najran. It is located in the Empty Quarter desert near the Yemeni border, and functions mainly as a border town. Sharurah had a population of 85,977 at the 2010 Census. [1]
